Quad Royale
Everyone is an evader. The AI chasers hunt the whole pack, more of them join as the game goes on, and the walls close in. Get tagged and you are out. Last disc standing wins.
What you need
- One shared screen that everyone can see: a laptop, or a TV with a browser, at quadchase.com.
- Two to six phones, one per player, each acting as a controller. Nothing to install.
- The same Wi-Fi for everyone, if you can. Other networks work too, with a little more delay.
Setting up
- On the big screen, open Quad Chase, press 2+ PLAYERS and choose QUAD ROYALE.
- Everyone scans the QR code, or opens quadchase.com/join and types the code.
- Each player gets a colour. Your colour is you everywhere: your disc on the big screen, your button, your rings.
- The host starts the match when everyone is in.
How a match works
A match is three games. In each game every player evades, the AI chasers hunt the pack, and players are knocked out one by one as they are tagged. As the game runs, more chasers join and the walls move in, so it gets harder to hide the longer it lasts.
Scoring is by points over the three games, not by a single lucky win: the winner of each game gets 3 points and the runner-up 1. Whoever has the most points after the third game wins the match.
The kit
- Two dash charges each, shown as rings on your disc.
- One orb at a time: SPEED (a three-second boost), SLOW (chills the AI pack) and SHIELD (eats one tag). Orbs are free for all in Royale, and the AI chasers will steal the speed orb and smash the others.
Tips
- Let the others draw the chasers. The AI hunts the pack, not you in particular. A player being chased on the far side of the screen is the best cover you will get.
- Don't follow another player. Two discs close together are two targets for one lunge.
- Move inward early. The walls close in, and the players caught at the edge when they do are the next to go.
- Fight for the shield. In a game decided by who lasts longest, one blocked tag is often the win.
- Play for points. Coming second in all three games beats one win and two early exits.
Good for
Quad Royale works for any group that can see one screen: friends on a sofa, a family round the TV, a class with a projector. Because the opponents are AI, mixed ages and abilities are fine; nobody is singled out, and the youngest player can win. For team against team, see Team Tag. For more ideas for groups, see party games for phones and camp and classroom games.
