Controls
Quad Chase has two controls: steer, and dash (or lunge, when you are the chaser). Here is how they work on each device, and how to get the most out of them.
Phone and tablet
Steer: drag anywhere
Put your thumb down anywhere on the screen and drag. A stick appears under your thumb and follows it, so there is no fixed pad to find. Your disc moves in the direction you drag.
Dash or lunge: three ways
All three do the same thing, so use whichever feels natural:
- the round button in the corner,
- a second finger anywhere on the screen while your first is steering,
- a quick double tap of the stick.
The button glows when the charge is back, and a thin ring around your disc drains and refills with it.
Tips for touch
- Keep your steering thumb down. Lifting it and putting it down again restarts the stick, which costs you a moment. Short drags from a thumb that stays down give the finest control.
- Try the second-finger dash. It lets you dash without moving your eyes to the corner button, which is where most late dashes come from.
- Hold the phone whichever way you like. The arena reshapes itself to portrait or landscape.
- Install it. Added to your home screen it runs full screen with no browser bars, and it keeps working offline. On iPhone: Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android the game offers to install itself.
Keyboard
| Action | Keys |
|---|---|
| Move | Arrow keys or W A S D |
| Dash (evader) or lunge (chaser) | Space |
| Pause | P or Esc |
| Mute | M |
| Play again from the game-over screen | Space |
Diagonals work by holding two keys, so up and right together moves you up and to the right at full speed.
Tips for keyboard
- Use W A S D with your left hand and Space with your right thumb, or arrows with your right hand and Space with your left. Either way, keep the dash on a different hand from steering so you can dash without letting go of a direction.
- Tap, don't hold, for small corrections. A keyboard has no half-speed, so short taps are how you make a small sidestep.
- Play full screen. On the home page press Full screen under the game, or open the game on its own at quadchase.com/play.
Two players, one device
On a phone or tablet: choose 2P SCREEN under 2+ PLAYERS and hold the device between you. Player 1 takes the bottom half and Player 2 the top; each steers by dragging on their own half and dashes with a second finger on their half, a double tap of their stick, or their own corner button.
On a laptop: Player 1 uses W A S D to move and Space to dash; Player 2 uses the arrow keys and Enter. Sit side by side and keep your hands on your own end of the keyboard.

Settings worth knowing
- Light or dark. The game has a light theme as well as the dark one; switch it from the button in the menu's corner.
- Sound and music can be turned off separately, so you can keep the sound effects without the music.
- Pause any time from the corner button or with P. The world freezes exactly where it was.
