QUAD CHASE

Frequently asked questions

Playing

Is Quad Chase free?

Yes, completely, and there is nothing to buy. There are no in-app purchases and no paid tier. Skins and perks are unlocked by playing.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no email and no password anywhere in the game. Your progress is kept in your browser, and a leaderboard entry stores only the display name you type and the score.

What do I need to run it?

Any reasonably modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer. On touch devices you steer by dragging anywhere on the screen; on a keyboard it is arrows or WASD to move and Space to dash. Full controls are on the how to play page.

Can I install it?

Yes — it is a progressive web app. Use your browser's Add to Home Screen and it runs fullscreen with its own icon, no app store involved.

Does it work offline?

Quick play does. Once the game has loaded once, it is cached and a plane or a lift will not stop a run. What needs a connection: leaderboards, party modes, phone-controller modes, online duels, and the optional rescue at the end of a run. The rescue is deliberately not offered offline.

Is there any chat?

No. There is no chat, no messaging, no friend list and no profile. The only text any player can put in front of another is a leaderboard display name and a disc name, both of which we can remove on request.

Progress and saves

Where is my progress stored?

In your browser's local storage, on the device you played on. Theme, sound, skins, best scores, round checkpoints, your disc and the descent you are part-way through all live there and never leave unless you back them up.

I cleared my browser data and my disc is gone. Can you restore it?

Only if you had pressed SAVE in the den and kept the code. That is the one thing that creates a restorable copy. Without a code there is nothing to restore from — a disc that was only ever registered with us cannot be brought back, because the registration is a record of play, not a backup.

My progress disappeared and I did not clear anything.

The usual culprit is iOS Safari, which deletes site data on its own after roughly a week without a visit. Installing the game to your home screen makes this much less likely, and pressing SAVE makes it survivable. It is the reason the backup code exists at all.

How does the backup code work?

Pressing SAVE hands you a code. Typing that code on any device pulls the whole profile back — disc, stats, skills, coins, descent and checkpoints. Pressing SAVE again overwrites the same code.

It is a backup, not an account. The code is the only key, so anyone who has it can restore that profile. Keep it to yourself and do not post it in a screenshot.

Can I move my progress between two devices?

Yes, with the same code. Note it is a copy, not a sync: restoring pulls whatever was saved last, so if you play on both devices, save on the one you played on before restoring on the other.

Multiplayer

Can I play with someone who is not in the room?

Yes — Arena PVP matches you with another player anywhere, and PLAY A FRIEND opens a private table with a short code you can send to a specific person. The room-based modes (shared screen, phone controllers, party modes) need everyone on the same local network.

Player 2 feels laggy on the two-phones mode. Is that normal?

A little, yes, and it is honest rather than hidden. In that mode one device shows the game and the other sends its input across Wi-Fi, so Player 2's input travels further. The game adds a matching delay to Player 1 to even it out, but for a genuinely symmetrical match use PLAY ON TV, where both players are on phones and both inputs cross the network the same way.

Does an online duel affect my disc?

No. Duels pay no coins and touch no leaderboard, and losing one costs you nothing — your MAX POWER, drops and deepest floor are untouched. Your win-loss record is kept on your own disc and is never uploaded.

How many people can play at once?

Up to six phones in the party modes, QUAD ROYALE and TEAM TAG, all sharing one big screen. Details are on the multiplayer page.

The Arena

Why can I not raise all four stats?

Because stat points come from one shared pool, so raising one is choosing not to raise another. That is the point of the mode — it is what makes two discs at the same power level genuinely different, and it is what makes the four bosses answerable by different builds. If you built wrong for a fight, REFOCUS sells every point back so you can respend the same pool.

I have coins and nothing to spend them on.

Then your disc is full and needs to be bigger, which coins cannot do. MAX POWER comes only from the descent: +8 for every floor past floor 5, and +20 for every boss beaten. See the Arena.

Why did my descent end when I still had lives?

A descent is one life by design. Hearts do not spawn down there and no boost hands one out. What softens it is the bosses: beat one and it becomes a checkpoint, so a later tag puts you back on the floor after that fight instead of ending the run.

Ads, data and safety

What ads are there?

Nothing interrupts a round. In the app builds there is a short ad on the game-over screen, and across versions there is an optional ad behind the rescue button that puts you back into a run you had lost — you press that one on purpose. On this website, ads run alongside written pages.

What data do you collect?

As little as we can. When a run ends we receive a short summary of the disc and the run, plus the country the request came from, worked out by our host — we do not store your IP address. Leaderboard entries store a name and a score. Bug reports store your message and technical context. Site analytics are cookieless page counts. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

How do I get my leaderboard name or my disc removed?

Email team@quadchase.com. For a disc, include its code.

Is it suitable for children?

There is no chat, no messaging, no user profiles, no purchases and no gore — it is abstract discs chasing each other. The two things worth knowing as a parent are that leaderboard names are typed by players and shown publicly, and that ads are served by Google and follow their policies.

Other

Is this connected to World Chase Tag?

No. Quad Chase is an independent game inspired by the format of the sport. There is no affiliation, endorsement or licensing relationship with any chase tag organisation.

I found a bug.

Use the bug-report button on the main menu — it sends your message along with the browser, screen size and build, which usually saves a round of back-and-forth. If the game is too broken to reach the menu, email team@quadchase.com and say what device you were on.

How often is it updated?

Often. The changelog has the record.
